Architect Donald MacDonald on the Golden Gate and Bay bridges

A while back, I had the pleasure of interviewing architect Donald MacDonald on the podcast show The Soul of California, which interviews leading Californians in various disciplines on the Golden State.  Donald has been extensively involved in both bridges for a number of years and has published two books on the bridges available through Chronicle Books.

In the podcast, Donald discusses the historical context of each of the bridges and their design. He also touches on the symmetry of the Golden Gate bridge and how the Bay Bridge, usually seen as the less attractive of the two, is being re-evaluated in light of its most recent facelift.

The nearly 40 minute podcast is available here . Enjoy….
